Making hot chocolate with alcohol is hard?
The damn thing separates, this method works every time, well for me anyhow ;-)
But what is the secret?
Mixing the Rum with caramel limits the opportunity to split.
Which mixer?
Milk is milk eh?
So many people are using Almond Milk and this will add to the flavour if you have it.
How to garnish?
Cream on top if you must ... but I've got a beard!
Ingredients
50ml (or so) Old Gang Spice Rum
2 teaspoon dulce de leche (or thick caramel)
150ml Whole Milk (or Almond Milk)
50g Milk Chocolate (or use Dark Chocolate?)
pinch of flaky sea salt
Directions
In a small bowl, mix together the our old gang spaced rum and the dulce de leche until smooth then set aside.
Warm the milk in a saucepan over a medium heat until simmering.
Remove from the heat and add the chocolate and stir until melted.
Pop the pan back on the heat until warm then add the rum mixture and a pinch of flaky sea salt.
Pour into a mug and serve.
